In his recent autumn statement 2015 Chancellor, George Osbourne has signalled the Government’s intention to introuduce a whiplash ban to stop any claims for soft tissue injury road traffic claims. The whiplash ban has two main effects. A dental surgery has banned patients weighing more than 20 stone saying they may break their Chair.  Overweight patients registered at a Dental Practice in Aberdare, South Wales are being refused treatment due to their size. The practice has sent out ‘warning letters’ saying their £7,500 reclining chairs will buckle under the strain of holding large patients. The chairs have a weight limit of 20 stone and the staff says it is against health and safety regulations to treat those weighing more. Louis Dempsey from Brighton was recently jailed for 9 months for faking a fall in an Asda supermarket in Brighton. He claimed he had slipped on water that had leaked onto the supermarket floor but CCTV captured showed differently, and Mr Dempsey was prosecuted and jailed.
